An Investigation into the Free Vibration of Intact and Cracked FGM Plates

Abstract In this study, the linear free vibration of intact and cracked functionally graded material plates is investigated numerically experimentally. The experimental work limited to isotropic materials. numerical based on finite element, where a code developed obtain natural frequencies first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) using MATLAB software. Also, model through-cracked FGM plate ANSYS Workbench with help APDL coding. properties under study are in one, two, three directions. novelty emerges through its examination synergistic impacts resulting from variations properties, crack length, orientation, location. These effects comprehensively discussed results section. result present shows that use three-directional reduces frequency compared other cases two-directional unidirectional FGM. show effect gradient high when index $$n < 3 .$$ n < 3 . paper useful for design especially cracks exist.
